Banfield is a football club from the vill age of Banfield team as part of the urban (metropolitan) Buenos A ires, 14 km south of the capital of Argentina within the administ rative borders. The club was founded in 1896 and was named in hon or of Edward Banfield, head of the railway company Ferrocarril Sur Gran. The club is also known as El Talardo (drill), since in 1930 the newspaper El Pampero stated that the assailants Banfield team przewiercajÄ… a by the defense rivals. Banfield is traditionally one of the largest and most popular clubs in the south of metropolitan Buenos Aires and the largest in the district (partido) Lomas de Zamora.
